What's Going On With The Pacific St Park?
Question: What's going on with the Pacific Street Park?
Answer from DPW: I wanted to give you an update on Pacific Street Park. Since its opening in 2006, the surface of the park was changed from dirt surface rice stone, granite blocks were added to allow a sitting area for dog owners, and several trees were added to the back side of the park. Within the past year an asphalt landing area was also added to the entrance of the park. This area serves two purposes: one is to add proper accessibility to the Park, the other is to allow for the eventual installation of bench seating at this location.
This fall the rice stone surfacing will be replenished and re-graded to allow for better drainage within the park. Two benches are scheduled to be installed: one at the entrance, the other on the western side of the park. We are also working with the Water Department to determine if we can install a water fountain in the park for pets and owners. If feasible the installation would happen in the early spring.
The Pacific Street athletic fields have also had some remedial work done to them. In the spring, the area was re-graded, fertilized and over seeded. Irrigation improvements were also made to get the system fully functional. Crews will again be performing soil and seeding work in the fall to try and improve soil conditions.
Please let me know if you have additional questions. Thanks Sincerely, Lisa P
