Dear Neighbors and Friends,
With little more than a month left until Election Day, my campaign is in full gear. I will need your voice and your votes to continue my work from the first term. Since summer I've been walking and talking to all neighbor-hoods across the city - from East Cambridge, to Cambridgeport, to North Cambridge, to Agassiz Baldwin, to Wellington-Harrington, to Huron Ave. My dedicated staff and volunteers are continually hosting canvasses, phonebanks and open houses. Please get involved and join them in making this campaign your own. Volunteers are going door-to-door talking about my commitment to jobs, transparent government, and maintaining our community feel as we grow.
The work is not done and I need your help more than ever. Starting in October, my team will be holding weekly open house volunteer nights on Thursdays and weekend days of action. This is your chance to get involved. If you haven’t already, please do so now. Please email Aaron, at

or call us at 617-902-0349.
With your voice we can continue the great work we've started together.
Please Show Your Support
Please show your support to me by putting up a lawn sign! Lawn sings are getting distributed every day and we don't have many left. Help me clear out my garage! Lawn sings are great for the on-the-go residents who might not have the time to go door knocking or participate in phonebanks. Get yours today by contacting Aaron at

City Council Update
As we transition from summer to fall, the busy season begins for the City Council and the campaign trail. This week, I will host a committee hearing on MIT's development plans and how they affect students, staff, and researchers on October 4 at 3:00 pm. On September 21, I hosted a public hearing addressing the challenges, concerns and opportunities farmers’ markets face. A committee report for the hearing is now available online. As a result of the meeting, I requested that the City Manager form a task force to address the following challenges:
- Expansion and deployment of EBT/debit cards at the Cambridgeport and the Winter farmers markets;
- Issue of parking facilities for farm vehicles and a temporary loading zone at the markets;
- Explore strategies to increase demand on farmers market.
Along with Vice Mayor Davis, I also put forth an order asking the city to support and assist in establishing a winter farmers’ market to ensure that parking, snow and other seasonal issues are taken care of.
Gov 2.0 - from Facebook to Reality
In August, a constituent posted on my Facebook page about motorists and bikers not heeding the one way sign on Fulkerson Street and barreling towards neighbors at full speed. In response to this, I put forth an order at the September 12 meeting asking the City Manager to look into installing traffic calming measures. In response to this, the City Manager and the Traffic Parking and Transportation Department inspected all side streets to Fulkerson St and have prepared work orders to install “one way” signs at three of the four intersections. These signs should be installed in the next 2-3 weeks. In addition, a raised intersection will be built on Fulkerson Street at Spring Street as part of the reconstruction of Spring Street, which is anticipated to begin in Spring 2012. You can view the City Manager’s order here.
